The Ego Death in manifesting: Manifestation pain explained
Why does manifesting bring up shadows and unpleasant emotions so often? Why do I feel like crap after affirming and changing my story? What is going on? Today we talk about the Ego death in manifesting and how to navigate it.

The involuntary therapy session
Here’s the hard truth: you found out about manifesting because you want the stuff. The car, the relationship, the money, the dream life. But what you didn’t realize is that you’ve just entered an involuntary therapy session you’ve been postponing for years – maybe even decades.
A need to consciously manifest comes from desires, and desires are here to reveal something about ourselves that’s remained hidden so far. They bring up more anxiety in manifesting than you expected to deal with. And that’s why people say that desires are a part of you. So buckle up – the best is yet to come, and you will never be the same again. I promise the change is for the best.
Think of it this way: you came for the material stuff, but the universe said “hold up, let’s heal some trauma first to have the capacity to hold more good stuff.”
And in this process, the Ego death in manifesting also takes place, making it all a powerful, but challenging combo.
The ego and its army of shadows
Meet your inner resistance.
Your ego has a little army of shadows living in your subconscious. These were created because at some point, your survival seemed to be in jeopardy. Even if that looks like an overreaction to us now, from this time perspective, it probably wasn’t at the time. All these shadows hold some of your energy that is released when they are set free.
And what about these survival mechanisms that were formed to protect you? They now make it harder to manifest, they make it harder to imagine being worthy of love from your person and making money while you sleep, instead of through hard work. In other words, they formed your beliefs and assumptions that now define your experience. They no longer serve you, and it’s time to dissect them and kiss them g-bye.
Here’s what’s really happening when you affirm and change your identity: all those contrary identities still living within you feel the withdrawal of energy and are literally threatened. They’re going to die, so they fight for their life – quite literally. They come to the surface to make noise and get that energy back when you react and spiral.
This resistance and doubt aren’t signs you’re doing it wrong – it’s proof you’re doing it right. All according to the schedule.
Practical steps to navigate ego death
Here’s your practical roadmap:
1. Stop consuming content
Let the shadows come up and sit with them for real this time. You know enough; start feeling. What you feel when you cease consuming all the content is what was always here in the background, running the show, but it was obscured by the false sense of achievement learning about stuff gives you. Sitting with it and releasing it is the real work you’re here for and watched all this content for in the first place. Go ALL IN on yourself.
2. Don’t get hypersensitive
It’s easy to get hypersensitive to every negative thought or emotion. Let them flow through you – they’re not dangerous. You will manifest with them there.
Start with gratitude for what’s already here. This opens your heart and raises your vibration immediately. Blessing the good we have is like giving the Source know more can come into our lives and be received with grace.

3. No more spiritual bypassing
Stop crossing your own boundaries in the name of “good vibes only.” The more you overlook what is, the longer it will take you and you’re only fooling yourself. So be honest with yourself about what you feel. Learn more about spiritual bypassing in manifestation here.
4. Trust your subconscious
It has infinite intelligence with a plan. You don’t micromanage when you have an injury; you let your body heal. It’s the same intelligence when it comes to your thoughts and the inner healing, so let it do its thing. Learn more about how to rest in awareness and let your subconscious do its thing.
5. Increase your vibrations
When feeling down, increase your vibrations as in the video about the manifestation Patronus Charm as I call it.
6. Accept what comes up
Not because you want it gone, but because acceptance is literally the only thing that sets you free. We only suffer because we resist what is here and now.
7. Meditate, rest and sleep
Rest in awareness – which I also have a guide for. Do the I AM meditation. This causes ego backlash because the ego is losing ground, crumbling with each practice. Hydrate, rest and let the subconscious do its work for you.
If you need help with any of these, you can work with me in coaching where we analyse your assumptions and nervous system regulation.
Remember: as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Your heart’s electromagnetic field is much more powerful than your brain’s and the heart reacts first even before we react logically and form the words of response. So use your body to understand what feels real and what feels untrue. The information is all there in your body.
Conclusion
It gets better and less chaotic every time – even in the Ego death in manifesting. This process isn’t punishment – it’s your initiation into who you really are. Or more like remembering who you’ve always been but forgot.
Only the divine mind, infinite spirit, source, the universe manifests through you. But it has to go through you to materialize what is rightfully yours, and that means healing what’s in the way.
Remember: feeling is healing, and you’re exactly where you need to be. We don’t heal to better handle the triggers but to increase the capacity for the good to come in without self-sabotage this time.
You’ve got this.
