Energy, Frequency and Vibration

Your nervous system is like a security guard for your life. Its job is to keep you safe—and to your nervous system, ‘safe’ means ‘familiar’, something it can easily extrapolate and predict to create solutions for it. Even if what you’re manifesting is good for you, objectively making your life better and safer, if it’s unfamiliar, your body will treat it like a threat.

And when you’re in threat mode—what we call a dysregulated state—you’re vibrating at the frequency of lack, anxiety, and resistance.

We’ve all been around someone whose energy felt off even if they didn’t say a word. That’s because everything—including you—is vibrating energy.

When you’re dysregulated, you’re broadcasting the frequency of ‘I don’t have this’ and ‘I’m scared I won’t get it.’ Your nervous system is working against you.

And this isn’t just spiritual talk—there’s neuroscience to back this up.

It’s called polyvagal theory. Polyvagal Theory is a way of understanding how our nervous system responds to different situations, like stress, danger or safety.

According to the theory, our nervous system has three main response states:

  • Fight or flight – activated when we’re in danger or threat. In manifestation, this can be triggered when circumstances seem to ‘disprove’ your efforts.
  • Collapse/shutdown – activated when we feel overwhelmed or powerless. This is when you want to give up entirely, move on to something else.
  • Social engagement (ventral vagal) – activated when we feel safe and connected. This is the state where manifestation actually flows.

What dysregulation looks like in manifesting

Let me show you what a dysregulated person feels and behaves in manifestation—or really, any type of personal growth.

1. Sense of urgency & technique hopping

You feel like you need the best technique right now to get what you want as soon as possible. Tell me if this is you: You’re constantly trying various techniques because maybe you’re not doing the current one correctly, and every time you make a mistake, you believe your desire gets delayed—and you can’t accept any delays. It feels like your peace and happiness are being pushed further away, and you simply cannot tolerate this, it’s too painful. The urgency becomes unbearable. So you jump to the next technique, then the next, hopping from one to another.

🧠 The opposite of this is a person who:

  • …accepts that what they want is already theirs. They don’t need to know exactly when it’s coming—because they trust it will. They surrender to the Universe’s timing. Making mistakes is just growth.

2. Strong fear that it won’t happen

You might be thinking to yourself: “Logically, I know I’ll be okay without it, but deep down I’m secretly panicking it won’t happen.” Even the thought of surrendering—thinking “maybe it’s for me, maybe it isn’t”—sends you into panic mode. Because it must happen for you. It is for you, right? So maybe it’s already on its way… right?

🧠 The opposite of this is a person who:

  • …can face the fear of never experiencing what they want. They think: “Maybe this was meant for me to experience, or maybe it’s here to show me my limiting beliefs and what needs healing, what needs my love.”
  • …knows they’re not just a person, but awareness itself—the space in which all experience arises. Whatever will be, will be.
  • …is not attached because they know who they are, and that they’re always safe and provided for. Because maybe this desire is meant to validate our ego, but the Universe has something even better for us

3. Desire brings pain

Instead of feeling excited about what you want, you get a sinking feeling in your stomach. It doesn’t bring you joy or fulfillment—it brings a sense of lack. “It’s still not here.” And that hurts. Manifestation stops being fun and starts feeling like torture or unfulfilled promise.

  • …when a desire arises, feels excited—because they know that if this longing has appeared in their consciousness, it’s already happening on another timeline. The desire itself is the promise. So instead of a sinking feeling, it brings joy and love and excitement.

4. Feeling burned out

You’re exhausted by all the techniques and manifestation content, but you’re too scared to stop. What if you miss an important new technique? What if you take a break and accidentally signal to the Universe: “I give up”? The idea of stepping away is too paralyzing, so you keep going, even though you’re running on empty.

  • …isn’t afraid to stand still and get bored. They don’t need to fill every moment with more content or information. They know they already know enough, and that everything they truly need comes from within.
  • …might not even use manifestation techniques regularly—maybe occasionally, when they want to feel a certain way—because that’s what techniques actually are: tools to create a feeling whenever you want.

You’ve been told you’re doing manifestation wrong. But what if the problem isn’t your technique—it’s that your body doesn’t feel safe enough to receive what you’re asking for? It’s your nervous system, love.

Because all you’re calling in has to come right through you, this human. So if the human is congested with unprocessed emotions, it’s blocking the flow.

How to surrender your nervous system

So here’s what actually needs to happen: You can’t manifest from survival mode. You can’t surrender when your body is screaming that you’re in danger. The resistance you feel toward your current reality IS resistance to receiving what you want—because it’s all the same nervous system.

So how do we actually work with this? The polyvagal approach gives us several pathways:

  • Notice your body’s signals – Pay attention to your bodily sensations. Is your heart racing? Stomach tight? This tells you which state you’re in.
  • Practice self-regulation – Activate your vagus nerve through slow breathing, gentle touch, or activities like yoga and meditation.
  • Build connection – Our social engagement system helps regulate our nervous system. Community and connection matter.
  • Know your triggers – Understanding what activates your stress response helps you navigate it consciously. Everytime a trigger resurfaces is your chance to gather information and awareness like a detective on a mission to find out what’s going on.
  • Get support when needed – If you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, or depression, working with a professional can be invaluable. Some people on Manifestation reddit share how they work with manifestation coaches, while they’re deeply traumatized and actually require professional help, from a therapist or psychiatrist. Ask for help if you need, the Universe wants to help you feel happy and it works through people too.

3. Feel to heal

Every time you feel and process, you’re clearing the pathway.

So when you’re faced with overwhelming emotions or your circumstances trigger the fear that your manifestation is in jeopardy, follow these steps:

  1. Place your hand on your heart.
  2. Take a slow breath in for 4, hold for 4, out for 6.
  3. As you breathe, say internally: ‘I am safe. My body is safe. It’s safe for me to have what I desire.’ This is your invitation to trust that even these uncomfortable emotions are part of the perfect unfolding—given to you by Source who IS YOU, for you.
  4. Sit with it until the sensation dissipates and you feel relief.
  5. And if you want, you can visualise with the power of your imagination your end state, in this relaxed state. Imagination is the place where you make the feeling familiar and safe.

This way, you’re signaling safety to your nervous system. You’re telling your body that the expansion you’re asking for isn’t a threat. Because all the blocks you now have are acquired through experience, we must dissolve them by new experiences now as well.
